ISO 4043:2016 soundproofing for mobile booths allows them to be placed close to the audience without the need for interpreters to speak softly. Outside noise also has little effect on the interpreters’ concentration.
All the microphones are routed through a mixing console to the interpreters’ desk in the booth. A technician ensures good signal quality, both for the interpreters and for the audience via receivers and headphones. The mixing console is also used to control the loudspeaker system and to record soundtracks.
Booth
An ISO 4043:2016 compliant mobile booth typically measures 160 x 160 x 200 cm (W, D, H) and can be assembled and tested in less than an hour by an experienced technician.

Designed for two interpreters, interpreter double desks offer versatile language settings with individual volume and sound controls, mute button, etc.
Transport and charging box with receivers, transmitters and headphones
Up to 30 (28) receivers and 2 (4) transmitters can be stored in one box. It can be used both for safe transport and for charging receiver and transmitter batteries.
Practical situations, tips and tricks
The booth should be positioned so that the interpreters have a clear view of the lectern or speaker's table.
If it has to be off-centre for space reasons, it should face the lectern or speaker's table so that the interpreters do not have to constantly turn their heads.
Avoid disruptive factors
- A sound check with the technician must be carried out at an early stage, for all room microphones (input) and all speech channels (output).
- Press the mute button when clearing your throat or coughing, including when making enquiries in the booth!
- Move paper documents carefully because of the noise.
